String Beans with Browned Butter and Almonds

Browned butter and almonds add a festive note to green beans.

Ingredients

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/3 cup slivered almonds, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Serving Suggestions
  1. Bring large saucepan of water to a boil on high heat. Add salt and green beans. Cook beans 4 to 5 minutes or until tender.

  2. Meanwhile, melt butter on medium heat in large skillet. Add almonds. Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until both almonds and butter begin to lightly brown. Stir in lemon juice.

  3. Drain beans. Stir into skillet, tossing to coat with butter mixture. Heat through.
