How To Place A Meat Thermometer
Check Your Turkey's Temperature with Incredibly Easy Thermometer Placement
Unsure of how to check if your turkey is done cooking by taking its temperature with a meat thermometer? It’s simple. Check a few key places to know when your turkey is done.
- Before cooking, if you have an oven safe leave in thermometer insert the probe from the top of the turkey (near the neck cavity) horizontally to the deepest part of the breast, making sure it’s not touching the bone.
- Remove the turkey when it reaches 170°F. (If it’s stuffed, check the temperature of the center of the stuffing to make sure it’s cooked to 165°F).
If you don’t have a leave-in thermometer, check the turkey with an accurate instant read thermometer 30-60 minutes before the estimated finish time, then about every 15 minutes thereafter.
